The real Falafel is so fascinated by birdies that the Hoomins have to spell-speak to each other when saying the word (much like dog owners referring to 'walkies' around their hounds).
Despite the predatory capers in this comic, Falafel harbours no ill will towards b-i-r-d-i-e-s. His cheeps and chatters appear to mimic those of his feathered friends on the other side of the glass, but his stalking (also seen in 'Fly Away From Here') frustratingly remains a spectator sport.
