Falafel hails from the Middle East (where the Hoomins adopted him) and adheres to the Lady Hoomin's naming convention, in which all of her pets are named after foods.

So his name has a regional flavour, and if you're unfamiliar with this delectable savoury treat, it's a deep-fried ball made of ground chickpeas and fava beans (so no meat on the menu). In 'I Love Falafel', Arabic speakers will hopefully notice another nod to his Gulf heritage on the takeaway packaging (Google Translate said alquta means "the cat," but that may have been mistranslated!).
